Preventing the FLU...  "About 20,000 people die yearly due to the flu or its complication."  Dr. Schaller says...
Influenza (also called "the flu") is a viral infection in the nose, throat and lungs. About 10% to 20% of Americans get the flu each year. Some people get very sick. Each year, about 130,000 people go to a hospital with the flu, and 20,000 people die because of the flu and complications.

    Who Needs WALK-IN Medical Care?

    - Those who need to be seen same day by a doctor and can not get to their primary care physician (PCP)
    - Those who can not see their PCP due to heavy scheduling, after hours, or holidays.
    - Those who are new to the area or do not have a PCP.
    - Those who do not have a life threatening emergency and do not want to be at the bottom of the waiting list at the emergency room.

The ER is for "Life Threatening Emergencies" and we are here for "Everything Else"

Although local emergency rooms are well equipped for "life threatening" emergencies, including heart attacks, strokes, etc., the volume of non life threatening emergencies often overwhelms them. Hockessin WALK-IN Medical Care is one solution for non-emergency care.

    - Much shorter waiting times
    - Quiet, comfortable and clean environment
    - Immediate communication with your primary care physician or specialist the same day by phone, or fax at your request.

    When Continuity of Care Matters

If you are diagnosed with a condition requiring ER or hospital attention, we will arrange direct transport to the hospital ER.
We will assist you in follow up appointments with a new or established primary physician or specialist (cardiologist, orthopedic surgeon, plastic surgeon, etc.)
You will be provided with clear instructions and prescriptions on discharge to properly care for your condition.
